Warts and all…we love them whether they hop, fly or crawl!
Kim Gordon, Site Manager at Muizenberg East tells us she had a surprise encounter with a Cape sand frog recently, playing “now you see me…” in the sand.
“This is the Cape sand frog (Tomopterna delalandii) I found hiding out in a mole hill inside Soralia Conservation Area, Muizenberg. It was well camouflaged by the sand even when uncovered. I was busy flattening out mole hills in the pathway with my shoe when I discovered him. Thankfully he came away unscathed and I covered him back up under the sand. Think I gave him quite a surprise! Cape sand frogs are endemic to western and southern South Africa.”
